Trick or Treat

Hi!

Here's a layout that was submitted at Paper Secrets for their October 1st Sketch With a Twist Challenge.  You can see the challenge here.

The sketch:

The Twist: Your layout must include dots and stripes.

Another sketch I loved and couldn't wait to create my layout!
Here it is... called "Trick or Treat."
This is Andrew and I all dressed up for Halloween.  I made his Ninja costume and my clown costume.  He loved the costume!!

Dots and stripes are seen throughout my page.  :)

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, Colorbok
Darice Embossing Folders
3D Spider: K&Co.
String
Spider Web Stamp
Inks: Orange, Black, Brown
Clear Embossing Powder
Sticker Page Title: K&Co.
Foam Cat
Ribbon

The web was embossed... even though you can't see it very well.  I'm not one for spiders... but this 3D embellie is... well... should I say it?  Cute.  I added the string so it looks like it's really hanging down.

Lots of embossing and I used various colored ink pads to lightly rub across the raised edges to add some texture.  All kinds of dots and stripes going on here.

Two strips of ribbon were added in the bottom of my page.

The page title sticker was matted on cardstock and pp.  And I just had to add the foam black cat!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Foolin Around

Hello,

I'm back with another sketch challenge.  This layout was submitted at Paper Secrets for their May 15th Sketch with a Twist Challenge.  You have until May 30th to submit your entry.  You can see the challenge here.

Here's the sketch:

And the Twist:  To use Bling... LOTS of bling!

Here's what I created:
This is our son and daughter foolin' around.  There's never a shortage of that with these two!  :)

Supplies used:
Paper:  Colorbok, My Mind's Eye
Swirly Bling: Want 2 Scrap
Ribbon
Clear Letter Stickers Title
Stars & Circles cut from templates
Staples
Sharpie Marker

Journaling was added in the lower left of my page.

Bling was added on the circle and shooting from the star.  The star was layered with plain cardstock and pp over that.

More bling is shooting from the larger star... which is layered also.

Ribbon was added on the circle like a banner and staples were used in two of the banners beside the circle.

I added two small strips of bling above and below the photo, near the corners.

 Gotta love bling!  :)

Here's a different look at the banners.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Nature's Best

Hi there!

Well, this is my final post for today.
This layout was submitted at Paper Secrets  for their January 15 Sketch Challenge with a Twist.
The "twist" is to use twine.

This is the sketch:

And here is what I created:

This is our son and grandson walking through the fields.  They looked so "casual" while gabbing away.  I was glad to be able to take a couple photos of this memory.

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, Colorbok
Twine
Cardstock Title
Distressing
EK Success Border Punch
Chenille Ribbon: American Crafts

The clouds were traced from a die cut and the edges distressed.

After punching this strip of cardstock, I ran my fingers across them to "roughen" them up a bit.

Ok, this is where I used my twine... around the title block.  For the corners, I twisted the twine until it looped and then glued it in place.  A bow was added above, on top of the chenille ribbon.

Here's a better look at the chenille ribbon and distressing.

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you'll pop in again real soon!

Graduation Day

Hello,

I have a layout that was submitted at Paper Secrets for their January "Sketch with a Twist" Challenge.  The deadline for entries is January 14th.   Here's the sketch:

The "Twist" is to use washi tape on your layout.

This is what I created:
These photos are of our son and his cousins.... all graduation in 2010.  After their graduation and the crowds had thinned out, I asked them to come up on stage and take a "random" photo.... in which they could do whatever for my photo.  That's the photo on the left.  Then I had to have a "good" photo!  Loved how they were all smiles at the idea of a photo shoot after days of preparing and various ceremonies leading up to their big day.

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV
Distressing
Puffy Grad Hat: Karen Foster
Sticker Title: Karen Foster
Ribbon
Sharpie Marker
Hand Made Washi Tape

The title sticker was added to the cardstock banner and the edges distressed.

I made my own washi tape!  This was so fun.  I used 1 inch double stick tape, old book paper, glitter paint and ink and stamps.
For my page, I layered the washi tape.  And for the top banner to remain up off the page, I adhered it to cardstock and trimmed around it.

The die cut under the photo was traced from a 12x12 decorative cardstock shapes.  I traced the size I wanted to create this cute square and the edges were distressed.

This cute journaling block was on the cardstock, so there was nothing to add but my puffy sticker and journaling.  How cool is that?!?

This photo gives you a better look at the washi tape and how the top banner is slightly lifted off the page.

I used a border punch under the photos and ribbon, just above the washi tape.

I added two small banners to the right of the photo block to cover some flowers that were on the cardstock.  Since I really didn't was those cute (and feminine) flowers on my page, I simply covered them with the banners.

Thanks for stopping by!

Merry Christmas Card

Hi there,
It looked just like Spring out this morning.  The sun was out, the snow was melting and it smelled nice and fresh outside.  But this evening it was a whole different story... it's snowing!

I have a card to share today that was submitted at Paper Secrets  for their Dec 15th Color Combo Challenge.  You can make an altered item, layout or card.  Below is the color palette to use.

I chose a sketch from Becky Fleck/Page Maps (Sept 2011).
The card looked way too plain and I knew I needed to do "something" more to it.
The bow was pretty.  So, I dug out my glitter paint and a paper towel, dipping it into the paint and dabbing it onto the whole card.  I used the Nestabilities die for the shape and the sentiment was stamped with red ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, Colorbok, White Cardstock
Nestabilities Die
Big Shot
Sentiment: Inkadinkadoo
Ink: A la mode Red
Clear Embossing Powder
Folk Art Extreme Glitter Paint
Satin Ribbon
Stampin' Up! Border Punch
Vellum

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a Merry Christmas!

Cool Kid

Hi there,

I have a layout to share with you that was submitted at Paper Secrets http://www.papersecrets.net/
for their December Color Challenge.  Below is the palette to use in creating a layout:

Here is what I created using a sketch from Becky Fleck/Page Maps (May 2012):
Here is our grandson looking like he's so tired of grammie's pictures!  But he looks so stinkin' cute in this photo, which was actually taken on Easter when he was only 5 y/o.  I can't believe he's 11 already!!

Supplies used:
Paper: Colorbok, DCWV
Ribbon
Distressing
Rub on: Provo Craft
Die Cut Robot
Sticker Quote
Alcohol Inks: Adirondack

My attempt at watered down alcohol inks, spritzed onto the page and spread around by tipping the
page and by blowing on the ink!  This definitely didn't turn out like I wanted!

I did some fussy cutting around the robot and distressed the edges.  I use pop dots to adhere
him to the page.

Ribbon and a rub on was all that was needed on this tag.  I ended up liking it just the way it is!

Found this cute quote in my stash... and unfortunately there was no company noted anywhere on it,
so I have no idea where it came from.

A different view of all the paper pieces and distressing and layering.

Have a wonderful day!

Buddies

Mornin'!

The sun is shining!  I guess that's a good thing, right?

Today I have a layout that was submitted at Paper Secrets http://www.papersecrets.net/
for their November 15 Sketch Challenge.

This is the sketch:

And my creation:
These photos were taken while I was outside weeding my flowers, which happens to be
under this window.  I looked up and there were the cats watching me.  (I always keep my
camera on me when our grandson is visiting).  The next thing I knew Dylan was peeking
through the window with one of our cats, deciding to check out what was going on too!
It was too cute to resist a photo!

I created the "burst" behind the photo by simply using a ruler to draw the lines and placed the
two pieces of paper together.  I cut each strip and used alternate pieces to create this burst.
So easy to do!

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV
Sticker: Paper Adventures
Title Sticker: Miss Elizabeth's
Chenille Rick Rack
Distressing w/Scissors
Pop Dots
Perfect Pearls Mists

Love this chenille rick rack!  The cute animated sticker is pointing at the "Buddies."
The whole page was misted with Perfect Pearls.  Cool stuff... it gives plain papers such a
shimmer!  I cut several circles from the patterned papers and used pop dots to adhere them.

The title sticker was adhered to paper first then added to the page.
The circles were distressed using scissors and adhered with pop dots.

Another view of the pearl mists.

Pop dots add such dimension to any layout.  And they're so fun to use!

Thanks for stopping by!
