My Little Butterfly

Hello,

Here's my May 3rd layout submitted at Colorful Creations for their May Sketch-a-Thon.

The sketch:

This is what I created:
Our daughter, all smiles... my little social butterfly!

Supplies used:
Paper: Colorbok, DCWV
Perfect Pearls Mist: Sunflower Sparkle
Sticker Title Letters
Pop Dots
Hearts: Cut from template
Flowers & Butterflies: Cut from pp
Gold Cording

The butterflies were cut from pp and adhered only in the centers and the wings were curled for some dimension.

The hearts were placed so the flower was in the center of each one.  I then cut the flowers that matched and added a pop dot under each one.

Military Girl

Hi there,

It's been so quiet without our grandson over every day after school.  But, I sure did enjoy him last week.  We had a lot of fun and I got tons of pictures!  And... we get to have him every other week until the end of June.  :)

After all, I need to keep the photos coming because of all the scrapping I'm doing.  I used to take lots of pictures at all the Boy Scout events, but recently made the decision to get done Scouts.  It wasn't as interesting as it used to be and I was getting tired of the meetings every week.
I seriously miss Andrew being in Scouts too!  It's so different without him in the Troop!  I really did good to stay with the Troop for over 3 years after Andrew got his Eagle Scout!!
It's time for a change.  :)

Anyhow, I have some "catch up" layouts to post... so sit back and enjoy all the layouts.

This one was submitted at Colorful Creations for their May Sketch-a-Thon.  This is the May 2nd sketch (PaulaMay).

And here's what I created:
Our daughter when she was overseas.  It was brutally cold there... and she was all bundled up.

Supplies used:
Paper: Colorbok
Burlap
Stone Stickers: EK Success
Ribbon
Flowers
Gems: Home Made
Square Stickers Title
Distressing

I decided to use burlap on this page so it wouldn't be totally feminine.  I wanted to portray the toughness of our daughter too... to go after what she desperately wanted and stick with it!!

These are the sweetest flowers!  Bummer that I couldn't remember where I picked them up... because I wanted to get more of them!  I will keep looking though.

I added two rectangles of burlap under the ribbon, sub title and flowers.  The gems are what I recently made.

A closer look at the burlap and star "stone."

The edges of the oval were distressed.

My Craft Room

Hi there!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!
What have you done (craft-related) today?

I went to a Scrapbooking Convention and had SO much fun checking out all the ideas and of course.... the best part... SHOPPING!  I was also very happy about not having to drag someone else with me (... such as hubby and our grandson)!!  Woo hoo!  All ME time!!  I wasn't rushed and it was amazing!  I gotta remember that next year... GO BY MYSELF!!  :)

I'm fortunate that my hubby will even go with me (begrudgingly)... such as last year.  He actually walked around with me as I drooled at all the cool items... showing him this and that while he just shook his head and rolled his eyes!!  But then the reality of it all sets in and he starts rushing me.

Let's face it... I just can't be RUSHED at a Scrapbooking Convention!!  Can you?

Anyhow, today, I'm participating in the ARTastic Challenge Blog (Inter)National Scrapbooking Day Fun!!

There are 3 chances for a prize (THREE)!  I love the chance to win prizes!

1.  Take a photo of your scrappy place. (I have done... see below)

2.  Answer this question in the comments section of their post, "When I am Scrapbooking I..." (I have done)

3.  Like them on FB and comment on their FB page. (I have done)

So, here's a photo of my scrapbook room.  This is only a small portion of my small room.  But it's my space and I love it!  Of course I would love a larger room... but, oh well.

Now that I look at this photo, I see that it doesn't really look that bad!  I'm trying to figure out which challenges to participate in... thus all the folders full of projects to do. Yup, I'm always busy with projects of some sort!  I even have clips on my curtains to hold papers that I need to work on... and calendars for two months at a time... so hopefully I won't forget about something!

Let's face it... I have a LOT of stuff!  Who doesn't?  How can you get creative and try all sorts of new things without a LOT of stuff?  And I love ALL my stuff!

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten a chance to craft.  I was too busy shopping... then when I came home, I saw the flooring completely finished in our new addition!  How cool!

Then our grandson wanted to toss the ball with me.  ME!  I haven't played toss in... well... forever!
So we tossed a ball until we were both too tired to continue and sweating terribly!
I got the best laughs out of him though... and that made it all worth it.

Here's a short story (for those of you who know me... I always have a story):

I was telling Dylan that I don't like to miss the catch, because I don't like running for the ball.  He started off tossing it really good and I caught it every time, but then he started laughing.  I just ignored him and we kept tossing the ball and I kept missing the catch.  Ugh!

Then he tells me, "I can't even throw the ball because I'm laughing so hard!"
ME:  What are you laughing at?
ME: Are you laughing at me?

Dylan: Yes!
Then he says, "Grammie, this is you!"  As he demonstrates what I do after I catch the ball.  And he starts laughing even more!

You see, when I catch the ball, I immediately throw it back to him... sort of like a hot potato!  There's no thinking about where to throw it... I just throw it mere seconds after I catch it!  This is what I used to do growing up.  Everyone from around our neighborhood would gather to play baseball right across the street where I used to live (which was a huge field) every day during the summer!  And I had to hurry up and throw the ball as soon as I caught it (I used to have the tendency to hold on to it for too long).

As I was explaining this to Dylan, he says, "Ya, I can tell!"

Yup, fun times with our grandson!  :)

Have a wonderful day!

Sweet Smile

Hello!

This is May and Colorful Creations is celebrating 3 years by having a Sketch-a-Thon.  Each day for the entire month, the wonderful Design Team will post one of their favorite sketches with an example layout to hopefully get you inspired to create some pages too!

That's right... EVERY DAY for the whole month of MAY!

Hop on over to Colorful Creations and check out all the fun!  Here's a direct link to the Sketch-a-Thon for May 1st.  What are you waiting for?  The sketches coming up are amazing... and I have 2 sketches coming up myself so you won't want to miss out on that!

Ok, here's the first sketch for May 1st uploaded by Brenshevia.  Your layout must be tagged "Brensheviamay) and new as of May 1st.  You will have until May 30 to upload your sketches in the Gallery with a link of your project posted in the thread for that specific challenge.  It's easy, really!

The May 1st Sketch:

Here's what I created:
Here's our son through the years.  He's changed so much, but still has that sweet smile!!

Supplies used:
Paper: My Mind's Eye, Colorbok
Sharpie Marker
Distressing
Stars: Cut from Template
Title Letter Stickers: Karen Foster Design
Silver Color Mist: Wilton
Perfect Pearls Mists: Biscotti

Here's a closer look at a portion of my page title.  These stickers are so cute!

The edges of the stars were distressed and misted with two different mists.  I also added 3 of my home made gems below that.

You can see some of the shimmer from the mists on this star.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Enjoy your day!

Friends are Sunshine on a Rainy Day

Hi there!

Another layout to share with you today.
This one was submitted at Sketches 4 All for hosting MY May Challenge, which is a Quote Challenge (MAYQUOTE), with an added criteria to use a border punch.

Click here to go directly to my Challenge Group and check it out.

Hey... You can join in on the fun too!  Why not?  Challenges are so good for the soul!  :)

Here's the layout I created:
This is Julie and I at a Pampered Chef Party I was hosting at my house.  I was so glad she could come!  We had so much fun!
For those of you who don't know about Pampered Chef, it's all about cooking!  They have loads of kitchen gadgets to get you in the cooking spirit, yummy recipes and spices.

Supplies used:
Paper: Colorbok
Martha Stewart Border punch
Quote Sticker
Distressing
Ribbon
Flowers
Glitter Gems: Home Made
Colored Craft Wire
Hot Glue Flowers: Home Made
Gems
Sketch: Page Maps (Feb 2012)

Here's the flower grouping to the left of the top photo.  I used various flowers and a variety of the glitter gems that I made.

I used a trio of flowers just above the quote.  I tucked the wire stems under the sticker.  These cute little flowers were made using hot glue, then I adhered the "petals" together and added a gem in the center.  They were painted using markers.  You could use nail polish also.

I also added another hot glue flower above the photo.

A closer look at the glitter gems.

The quote was distressed along the edges and ribbon was added above it.  Below is where I added my punched border.

Have a wonderful day!

My Sister

Hi there,

Another beautiful day!  Woo hoo!

You can create any project and here's the sketch we had to use:

I decided to honor my sister with this layout of her and I doing our usual thing... LAUGHING!
My sister and I during a mini-vacation trip to Texas to see my daughter's graduation from Basic.  We had so much fun sight-seeing!

Supplies used:
Paper: My Mind's Eye
Martha Stewart Border Punch
Flowers
Journaling Block
Sharpie Marker
Glitter Gems: Home Made
Ribbon
Perfect Pearls Mist: Sunflower Sparkle
Silver Color Mist
Clear Letter Stickers

I folded this flower in half and added a small "bunch" of tiny flowers.  I tied them together, snipped off the stems and adhered it as the center of the flower.

Scrunched up ribbon was added under the photo.

On one of the larger flowers I added the page title using clear sticker letters and followed the circle of the flower for something different.

The flowers were misted with various mists.  A border punch was used on a darker paper on the right of my page.  Glitter gems were added as the center for a couple of the flowers.

My journaling block, which is a sticker.  A glitter gem was added as the center to the flower and another "bunch" of tiny flowers was added to the left of the journaling.

A closer look at the letter stickers.

I was trying to get a better photo of the misting on this teal flower.  You can just barely see it.  Oh well.
