Love

Hi there,

When I came across this sketch I wasn't really sure what I could create.  But something caught my eye... I really liked the sketch.  I'm usually a "clean and simple" kinda gal... so this is really stepping outside my comfort zone.  And I really wanted to give it a try.  The hardest part... as usual for me... was finding photos that would be small enough to use and when I came across these photo proofs of our son from 1996 I knew I could get started on a fun project!

This layout was submitted at Kraft It Up for their March Challenge.  The only requirement is that you use Kraft paper as the base for your layout.

Here's the cool sketch:

And this is what I created:
Our son was 4 years old for this photo shoot.  He would "smile" this, what I call "fake" smile, instantly when the camera pointed at him. It was so sweet to watch.  The lady never had to say, "Smile" because he had his smile on before she could say the words!

Supplies used:
Paper: Kraft, Colorbok, Other
Washi Tape: Home Made
Folder Tab
Stickers: K&Co.
"Hugs" Bubble
Bakers Twine: Home Made
Staples
Gold Color Mist: Wilton
Perfect Pearls Mist: Blue Smoke
Blue Mist: Home Made
Cheesecloth
Cork board Shapes
Magic Mesh
Clear Stickers

I used strips of torn papers, which were also distressed and misted, under the photos and layered cheesecloth, twine, Magic mesh and stickers on top of the papers.  The photo was matted onto pp.

The cheesecloth and twine was also misted.  The "cherish" sticker to the right of the photo was also misted and stapled to the page.  On the upper right is a clear sticker which says, "the Look."

Here's a closer look at the sticker as well as misting and distressing.

This sticker is under the triangle photo. You can see a small portion of my home made washi tape.  I used a page from an old book, stuck it on double sided tape, added glitter paint and stamps to the top.

You can see the clear sticker much better in this photo and the paper layers.

I used a variety of paper strips in different widths and added my own washi tape too.  The washi tape was a bit wide, so I cut it in half.  All the strips were misted.  In the lower left I added a metal bauble that says, "Hugs."

My page title is "Love" on washi tape.  I used regular scotch tape and words found from magazines.  I soaked the strips in water and then rubbed off the sticky part... and here's my tape!  I love it!  So fun to make... a bit messy... but still fun!  I adhered it onto my page with vellum adhesive.

I found these folder tabs in my stash and added a sticker from K&Co. and misted it.  The tab was tucked under the washi tape.

I added another clear sticker beside the triangle photo.

Here's all my layering of papers and a host of other embellies.

This misting is my home made mist using rubbing alcohol and metallic paint.  I poured enough paint in the bottom of a spritz bottle to cover the bottom and added rubbing alcohol about 3/4 full.  Shake and have fun misting!
I will say that cheap spray bottles do not work very well.  I'm on the grand search for spray bottles that actually mist instead of spray gobs out at one time!  For my page, I simply worked with what I currently have, misting a lot in the center of the page and then holding the page up and banging it on my table until it dribbled down.

This is another washi tape that I made.  I crumpled up tissue paper, stuck it onto one side of double stick tape and that's it.  Just peel and stick!  So cool!  You can paint this, stamp on it, add words... the possibilities are endless.  I liked the crumpled look and for my page I just misted it.

Here's a closer look at the strips of paper and washi tape.

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a wonderful day!
