Destination

Hi there,

As I am on the Design Team at Soul Scrappers, I have the privilege of hosting the monthly Quote Challenge.  You can see my challenge here.

I hope you hop on over to Soul Scrappers and check out, not only mine, but all the other fun challenges there.  Would love to have you join in and add your projects to the Gallery too.

So the Quote I chose for this challenge is:

"All dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them."
-Author Unknown

My challenge to you is to use this quote somewhere on your project.  Pretty easy, right?  Well, it is!  And you can create any project... the choice is yours.

Here's my example layout titled, "Destination."

This is the photo that we used to add on top of Andrew's cake for his Eagle Scout Ceremony. Love this photo.

Supplies used:
Paper: My Mind's Eye, Colorbok
Wood Flourish: KaiserCraft
Sharpie Marker
Ribbon
3D Embellie: K&Co.
Sticker
Distressing
Perfect Pearls Mist
Sketch: Page Maps (May 2007)

Journaling was added below the photo.

I absolutely love these wood flourishes!  Wish I had lots more of them!  Anyone know how I can make them myself?

The title sticker was matted onto several pp/cardstock with the bottom edge distressed.  Two ribbons were looped under the right of the title.

Here's a closer look at the 3D embellie.  You can also see my hand written quote with the edges of the cardstock strip distressed.

Ribbon was looped just below the photo.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

And, don't forget to head on over to Soul Scrappers and check out all their challenges!  :)

Sunshine Card

Hi there,

Here's a cute, summery card that I submitted at Sketches 4 All for their July Challenge.  You can see the challenge here.  The sponsor for this month's challenge is The Cutting Cafe.  They have the cutest digital images!

Here's the card I created using one image from each sheet that I received.
The bingo card was one of the images as well as the sentiment.  Aren't they the cutest?  Just think of all the projects you can create with these!

I distressed all the edges.  The pocket was hand made.  Bling was added at the top of the pocket with the sentiment in the center and a satin cording bow below that.  I used a marker to created stitched lines on the pocket too.

Supplies used:
Paper: K&Co., White Cardstock, Colorbok
Prima Flowers
String Pearls
Glitter Gems: Home Made
Satin Cording
Distressing
Marker

Here's a closer look at the pocket.  You can see the stitching better in this photo. I also frayed the ends of the bow.

The satin cording was tucked into the pocket and the way they landed is the way I kept them and just added the flowers and home made glitter gems.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Day

Hi there,

As you probably already know, I am on the Design Team at Sketches 4 All and host a challenge each month to get those creative juices flowing with a different challenge for you to try each month (Libby's Challenges).  You can see my challenge here.

I hope you can check out all the fun challenges for July.  Here's the link to the Current Challenges at Sketches 4 All.  And, maybe you will be inspired to join in.  Would love to see some of your creations in the Gallery too.

Ok, now on to my challenge.  This month I decided on a Sketch Challenge

Here's the sketch:

The sketch can be rotated or flipped... as long as I can see the sketch on your project.

This is my layout titled, "Happy Day."
This is Andrew and I enjoying his birthday celebration on a beautiful summer day in 2006.  Wow... he sure has grown up a lot since then!!

Supplies used:
Paper: My Mind's Eye, Colorbok
Darice Embossing Folder
Flowers
Page Title: Cut from pp
Cross Stitch Fabric Hearts
Tag: Hand Made
Satin Cording
Wood Flourish: KaiserCraft
Hole Punch
Hearts & Stars
Rick Rack
Sketch: Page Maps

In the upper portion of my page, a star was added with a heart cut from cross stitch fabric with the edges frayed just a bit.

Embossed cardstock was added on the tag which was tucked under the photo.  Satin cording was tied in a bow on one end of the tag and looped on each end.

Below the photo is my page title, matted on cardstock.  A larger fabric heart was tucked under the flower with a smaller pp heart overlapping it.

Here's a closer look at the cross stitch heart.

Rick rack was added to the left of the photo with a wood flourish, flower, small fabric heart and several stars.

Here's a closer look at the wood flourish, heart and star.  I love these wood flourishes!  Really wish I could make my own!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

And remember, stop by Sketches 4 All and check out all the challenges.  Would love to have you join us!

Sweet Little Girl

Hi there,

I have a layout to share that I used as an example for my July Song Challenge at Colorful Creations.

The song I chose for this month is "Caught Up in You" by 38 Special.

Here are the lyrics:

I never knew there'd come a day
When I'd be sayin' to you

"Don't let this good love slip away
Now that we know that it's true."
Don't, don't you know the kind of man I am
No, said I'd never fall in love again
But it's real and the feeling comes shining through.

So caught up in you, little girl
And I never did suspect a thing
So caught up in you, little girl
That I never want to get myself free
And baby it's true
You're the one
Who caught me baby you taught me
How good it could be

It took so long to change my mind
I thought that love was a game
I played around enough to find
No two are ever the same
You made me realized the love I missed
So hot! Love I couldn't quite resist
When it's right the light just comes shining through.

So caught up in you, little girl
You're the one that's got me down on my knees
So caught up in you, little girl
That I never want to get myself free
And baby it's true
You're the one
Who caught me, baby you taught me
How good it could be

Fill your days and your nights
No need to ever ask me twice oh no
Whenever you want me
And if ever comes a day
When you should turn and walk away oh no
I can't live without you
So caught up in you

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
And if ever comes a day
When you should turn and walk away oh no
I can't live without you
So caught up in you, little girl
You're the one that's got me down on my knees
So caught up in you , little girl
That I never want to get myself free
And baby it's true
You're the one
Who caught me baby you taught me
How good it could be, little girl
You're the one that's got me down on my knees
So caught up in you, little girl
That I never want to get myself free
And baby it's true
You're the one
Who caught me and taught me
You got me so caught up in you

The challenge is to use a word(s), sentence, paragraph, or whole song on the project of your choice.

Here's my example layout titled, "Sweet Little Girl."
I used the words "Little Girl" from the lyrics.

This is our daughter when she was 2 or 3 years old, with one of the many dolls she loved to play with.

Supplies used:
Paper: My Mind's Eye
EK Success Border Punches
Martha Stewart Border Punch
String
Ribbon
Swirly Bling: Prima
Stickers
Wide Fabric Ribbon
Flowers/Leaves
Gems: Home Made
Folder Tab: Home Made
Sketch:  Page Maps (Feb 2012)

A border punch was used for the scalloped banner and another one to punch the white cardstock.

The banner was strung on twine with a bow tied on each end.  White ribbon was added where the two scallop edges meet.

Glitter letters were adhered to the folder tab.

A strip of cardstock was punched and pleated to adhere around the circle.  Sticker letters were added on the circle.

Here's a look at the flower cluster.  I added two small orange flowers... pulling the orange from the photo.  And the green leaves are inspiration from the grass in the photo too.

Here's a closer look at part of the flower cluster.  The gems are home made.

Wide cloth embroidery ribbon was added above the flowers, to the left of the photo.

Here's a closer look at the flowers below the title.

Ribbon was punched and tucked under the paper.  I'm not sure I'll do this technique again... but it does look good on my page!  It's really hard to use a border punch on ribbon!

Another look at the punched ribbon.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I hope you'll check out Colorful Creations at all the fun challenges for July... as well as my challenge.  You may decide to join us... and it would be so cool so see some of your work in the gallery too!
Till next time,

Downtown Kearney

Hello,

Here's a layout that was submitted at Archi-scraps for their July Inspiration Photo Challenge.  You can see the challenge here.

There's lots of time to participate, so hop on over to Archi-scraps and check it out!

The Inspiration Photo for July:

Here's the layout I created titled, "Downtown Kearney."

I was inspired by the the colors (green, cream, grey/silver), the lines from the stairs.

At the very top of the Kearney sign is a point... similar to the point in the inspiration photo.  I knew I had the right photo for this challenge!

Supplies used:
Paper: My Mind's Eye
Trim: Webster's Pages
Prima Flowers/Leaves
Spiral Paper Clips
Pearl Stick Pins
Gems: Home Made
Stampin' Up! Border Punch
Sketch: Page Maps (July 2008)

Inspired by the lines from the stairs, I added this striped paper to the left of the photo.  And the grey/silver from the photo inspired me to add these gems too.

Here's my flower cluster.  Leaves and flowers are Prima and the gems are home made.  Spiral paper clips were tucked just under the leaves and two stick pins were added at the top of the cluster.
The creams on my page were also taken from the inspiration photo.

A closer look.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Scatter Seeds of Love

Hello,

I have a layout to share that was submitted at Let's Get Sketchy for their June Week 4 Challenge.  You can see the challenge here.

Well... I was HOPING to upload this to their site, but I missed the deadline once again!!!  Total bummer!  :(

Posting it anyhow.

This is the sketch:

Here's what I created titled, "Scatter Seeds of Love."
A few of my flowers from my gardens.  Lots of daisies and a few tulips amongst the chives.

Supplies used:
Paper: My Mind's Eye
Clear Stickers
Flowers
Butterfly
Photo turn: s.e.i.

Three small flowers were added at the top and a clear sticker added on the background paper.

This was going to be my page title, but it's not seen as easily as the words on the tag below.  On the photo turn I added another flower.

Love this cute sticker!  All I did was mat the tag onto pp and added a small flower.

A tiny butterfly was placed below the photos.

Here's a look at the top portion of my page.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

This is our dog, Zoe.  She loves ice cream as much as we do!

Supplies used:
Paper: Colorbok
Die Cut Letters
Twine: Home Made
Hole Punch

A Prima flower was added to the left of the photo with a home made gem.
