Five Star Experience

Hi there,

Here's a layout that was submitted at Archi-scraps for their November Inspiration Challenge.  You can see the challenge here.

The Inspiration Photo:

Criteria:  The Sea

My layout is titled, "Five Star Experience."
These photos were taken from an Observatory that we visited this summer in the lower part of our hometown State.  The views were breathtaking!!

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, Colorbok
Silver Color Mist
3D Dolphin & Swirls Embellies
Darice Embossing Folder
Washi Tape: Home Made
Pinking Shears
Folder Tab
Marker
Star Punch
Corner Rounder
Sketch: Page Maps (Apr 2010)

I used pinking shears on one side of the washi tape... which was made using double sided tape and tissue paper.  The folder tap has the date of our adventure.

Isn't this dolphin cute?  The swirls were added as the water splashing.

The page title is on the left of the center embossed strip.

A look at the silver color mist.

And a better look at the dimension from the 3D embellies.

Sure hope you can play along with us this month.  Such a fun challenge... you won't want to miss out.

Here's the prize you will be playing for:
Kindly donated by Julene Matthews.
You will receive:  20 sheets of 12x12 Christmas pp plus Ruby Rock-It Border Sticker (10 pennants) and Ruby Rock-It Glittered layered accents (17 pieces).  Both of the Ruby Rock-It items coordinate.

Pretty cool, right?  We can all use more Christmas paper and the embellies look sweet too.

Hope to see your creations at Archi-scraps!

This is a fabulous site... and we only had ONE entry last month.  :(   Such a bummer!  So... let's try to get more entries this month.  Come on... and play along!   Hop on over there and check all the inspiration layouts from the lovely DT (including myself) too!   All awesome layouts that are sure to inspire you!

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you at Archi-scraps!  :)

"Scary" Halloween Card

Hello,

This card was also submitted at Turtle Soup for their October Mini Crop - Joan's Challenge.

The challenge is to use tape on your project... any kind of tape, washi, paper, masking, duct tape, etc.

Here's my "Scary" card:
It really isn't a "scary" card... but since I was using a purple pp and the chipboard word was purple and line green... I used it!

Two different washi tapes were used along the bottom and on the upper right of my card.  Another small strip was used just above the word.

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, White Cardstock
Chipboard Word
3D Embellie: K&Co.
Washi Tape
Pop Dot

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Best Buds

Hi there,

Here's a page that was submitted at Soul Scrappers for their Sketch Challenge (SC70).  You can see the challenge here.

The sketch:

The Criteria:
Washi tape, paper strips or a mix of both.

This is my page titled, "Best Buds."
Love this fun photo of our son (on the tractor) and our grandson (in the wagon) having fun.  It was even more fun when they switched places and Dylan was pulling Andrew in the wagon!  I was laughing so hard at these two!!

I used the sketch and a combo of strips (see below).

Supplies used:
Paper: Me & My Big Ideas
Washi Tape
Decorative Tape
Clear Sticker Words
Wagon & Ball Stickers
Ink: Vivid! Brown
Paper Ribbon
Circle Punch

Decorative tape and washi tape were added in the upper corner.

It was fun digging in my stash to find these different strips to use for my page.  The page title is a clear sticker.

The circles were punched and covered with washi tape.  Another great find in my stash is this cool wagon sticker.

More strips below the photo.

A closer look at the wagon and washi tape circle.

Another circle covered with washi tape, a ball and word sticker.  A tiny corner of decorative tape was added to the right of the circles... tucked under the photo.

School Days

Hi there,

Here's a layout that was submitted at Soul Scrappers for their Around the World - Argentina Challenge (ATW10).  You can see the challenge here.

Simply create your page using inspiration from the following photos:

This is the page I created which is titled, "School Days."
The inspiration for my page was from the 4th photo shown above... the brightly colored yellow house.

The arrows point to where our grandson is in the photos.  The Annual Gym Show event was held every year for the grade school kiddos.  Different events are held for each grade level and they get to play games and show the variety of skills they learned for each event.

This particular year was Parachute fun!  The kids would all hold the parachute and fling it in the air and when it was up... they would take turns running underneath it to switch sides with another child.  Then they would put quickly wrap it around them so we only saw their legs... and another time only their heads were showing.  It was so cute to watch!
The favorite was when the gym teacher pulled out the box of ping pong balls and threw them in the center of the parachute and they would fling them up in the air... and ping pong balls were everywhere!  They would keep doing this until all the ping pong balls were out of the parachute.

When the games were completed... they would all gather towards the center, making the parachute flat.

Supplies used:
Paper: My Mind's Eye
Stampin' Up! Border Punch
EK Success Border Punch
Rick Rack
Foam Hands & Star
Ribbon
Pop Dots
Stickers
Darice Embossing Folder
Marker
Washi Tape
Sketch: Page Maps

The arrow was adhered with pop dots.  The page title in the lower left was added onto an embossed circle with various stickers and foam hands around it.

A border punch was used on the left of the journaling block and rick rack added.  A small piece of yellow washi tape was added in the upper corner.

More rick rack and a foam star.  The center rick rack was added onto blue ribbon.

I used another arrow to show where his legs were sticking out.

A closer look at the arrow.

Here's a closer look at the page title cluster.

1.  Start with a white base for your layout.
2.  Add some bright colors.
3.  Photos matted.
4.  Add journaling.
5.  Add lots of bright washi tape/decorative ribbon and ribbon.

Here's what I created.  My layout is titled, "Cute as a Bug."
Two little cuties!  They were SO full of energy while visiting.  It was never a dull moment!

Supplies used:
Paper: K&Co., Colorbok
Sequins
Washi Tape
Stickers
Ribbon
Marker
Sketch: Page Mays (Oct 2005)

The sub title is below the second photo with sequins scattered around.

Washi tape was added along the circles.

Bright ribbon goes along the left and top of my page.  More sequins and washi tape.

The page title is along the left of my photo.  A very appropriate title!  :)

Man to Man

Hi there,

I have another layout to share with you today that was submitted at Colorful Creations for their September Recipe Fun Challenge (FIRECSEPT).  You can see the challenge here.

This is the recipe:
1 blurred photo
3 different masks
Triangular shapes in any size
Washi tape
Your choice of wet medium... inks, paint, mists or textured paste
Use words or quotes relevant to the page
White cardstock only for the background
Other products you can use: stickers, pp and bling.
NO FLOWERS!

Here's what I created with my page titled, "Man to Man."
I don't always take the best photos... and lots are blurry... so this challenge was perfect for me!

This is Andrew playing soccer... playing a hard game as he always did.  Loved to watch him play!

I used everything listed in the criteria!  Woo hoo!

Supplies used:
Paper: Colorbok, DCWV
3D Embellie
Soccer Sticker
Sticker Page Title
Darice Embossing Folder
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder
Home Made Mists
Walnut Ink Mist
Perfect Pearls Mist
Other Mists
3 Stencils (1 of them is home made)
Washi Tape: Home Made
Distressing
Sketch: Page Maps (Feb 2009)

The large triangles were embossed with two different folders and the edges were distressed.

You can see two of the masking techniques on the background paper.  The squares stencil was home made out of pp.
The page title was matted onto cardstock with distressed edges also.

A 3D soccer embellie was added in the upper right of my page.
Here's a look at two of the stencils I used for the masking.

The gold washi tape is home made using double sided tape and tissue paper.

Here's a look at the lower left of my page.
