Tri-fold Birthday Card

Hi there,

Here's the example card that I made for hosting the Libby's Challenges - Using Clusters (novclusters) at Sketches 4 All.  You can see my challenge here.

I sure hope you can play along!  It's super fun... really!

So, basically, the challenge is to create a project using a cluster of 3 or more embellies.

Clusters can mean a variety of things such as:
- Flowers/Leaves
- Frames
- Tags
- Various Shapes
- Buttons, Brads, Bling
- Photos
- Gears, Chipboard
- Ribbon, Swirls
- Fabric, Lace, Felt
- Beads

Basically, ANY combo of embellies is a cluster.
I challenge you to HAVE SOME FUN and create your own unique "cluster."

This is the tri-fold Birthday card I made.  I have been wanting to make one for some time now... and I should not have waited so long to give it a try!  It was super fun!
Here's the card tied with a bow.  I left it open a bit.

Here's the card opened up.

This is the inside center of my card.
The "cluster" is the 3 flowers and glitter gems.

Left inside flap.  3D embellies were used on each inside flap.

Right inside flap.

The back of my tri-fold.  Ribbon was adhered to the back.

Outside left flap.

Outside right flap.

And a closer look at the back... including my stamped signatures.

Here's the card standing up.

I hope you enjoyed your visit and will stop in again real soon.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hold On!

Hi there,

It's time for another Song Challenge (novsong14) that I'm hosting at Colorful Creations!  I hope you can join in on the fun too!  You can see the challenge here.

This months' song is by Air Supply titled, "All Out of Love."

Here are the lyrics:

I'm lying alone with my head on the phone
Thinking of you till it hurts
I know you hurt too, but what else can we do?
Tormented and torn apart

I wish I could carry your smile in my heart
For times when my life seems so low
It would make me believe what tomorrow could bring
When today doesn't really know, doesn't really know

CHORUS
I'm all out of love, I'm so lost without you
I know you were right, believing for so long
I'm all out of love, what am I without you?
I can't be too late to say that I was so wrong

I want you to come back and carry me home
Away from these long lonely nights
I'm reaching for you, are you feeling it too?
Does the feeling seem oh so right?

What would you say, if I called on you now
Saying that I can't hold on
There's no easy way, it gets harder each day
Please love me or I'll be gone... I'll be gone

CHORUS

What are you thinking of?
What are you thinking of?
What are you thinking of?
What are you thinking of?

CHORUS x 3

And a photo of the band:
November Song Challenge

There are plenty of words to choose from... and here are a few examples to hopefully spark an idea or two for you to play along:
phone
thinking
I know you
I wish
believe
smile
heart
love
What are you thinking of?

The challenge is to use word(s) from the lyrics to create your project.  You can choose one word, a line from a chorus, the whole chorus or even the title song... or whole song.

Here's my example layout using the words "Hold On" which is also my page title.
Our son having a blast tubing!

Supplies used:
Paper: Colorbok, Me & My Big Ideas
Foam Clouds & Border
Pop Dots
Sticker Letters
Swirly Bling
Star
Stickers
Toothpick Banner
Distressing
Perfect Pearls Mist
Sketch: Page Maps

The circle was distressed and adhered with pop dots.

Swirly bling was added just under the foam border strip.  It's hard to see... so look closely.  :)

A different angle.

In the lower corner I added a mulberry paper star with a couple stickers over it.

The foam clouds were misted with a pearl mist... but it's hard to see it.

You can just get a glimpse of the mist on the clouds.  The banner was created using a toothpick and adhering a triangle onto it.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I hope to see some of your creations in the Colorful Creations Gallery!  :)

Five Star Experience

Hi there,

Here's a layout that was submitted at Archi-scraps for their November Inspiration Challenge.  You can see the challenge here.

The Inspiration Photo:

Criteria:  The Sea

My layout is titled, "Five Star Experience."
These photos were taken from an Observatory that we visited this summer in the lower part of our hometown State.  The views were breathtaking!!

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, Colorbok
Silver Color Mist
3D Dolphin & Swirls Embellies
Darice Embossing Folder
Washi Tape: Home Made
Pinking Shears
Folder Tab
Marker
Star Punch
Corner Rounder
Sketch: Page Maps (Apr 2010)

I used pinking shears on one side of the washi tape... which was made using double sided tape and tissue paper.  The folder tap has the date of our adventure.

Isn't this dolphin cute?  The swirls were added as the water splashing.

The page title is on the left of the center embossed strip.

A look at the silver color mist.

And a better look at the dimension from the 3D embellies.

Sure hope you can play along with us this month.  Such a fun challenge... you won't want to miss out.

Here's the prize you will be playing for:
Kindly donated by Julene Matthews.
You will receive:  20 sheets of 12x12 Christmas pp plus Ruby Rock-It Border Sticker (10 pennants) and Ruby Rock-It Glittered layered accents (17 pieces).  Both of the Ruby Rock-It items coordinate.

Pretty cool, right?  We can all use more Christmas paper and the embellies look sweet too.

Hope to see your creations at Archi-scraps!

This is a fabulous site... and we only had ONE entry last month.  :(   Such a bummer!  So... let's try to get more entries this month.  Come on... and play along!   Hop on over there and check all the inspiration layouts from the lovely DT (including myself) too!   All awesome layouts that are sure to inspire you!

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you at Archi-scraps!  :)

The Great Outdoors

Hello,

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

I have a layout to share that was submitted at Sketches 4 All for The Great Outdoors Challenge (outdoors).  You can see the challenge here.

The challenge is to use outdoor photos, Fall theme and the word "outdoors" somewhere on your project... or show that the photos are outdoors.

Here's my layout titled, "The Great Outdoors."
This is our son and other scouters working hard on an Eagle Scout Project.

I used:
Outdoor photos,
Fall theme,
and the word "outdoors" in my page title.

Supplies used:
Paper: K&Co., Colorbok
Ribbon
Burlap
Vellum Page Title
Raffia
Clear Stickers (trees & word on tag)
Ink: Vivid! Brown
Various Paints
Hole Punch
Sketch: Page Maps (Sept 2005)

Dark brown ribbon was placed under the burlap.  The vellum page title was adhered onto cardstock and the edges were inked.

Journaling was added in the lower right of my page.  The background was made using a new technique (for me).  Simply add drops of paint onto plastic wrap... spritz with water.... play around with the paint, splotching it more... and press your cardstock onto it.  Lift and you have this really cool pattern on your otherwise plain cardstock.

The tag was also inked along the edges.  Clear stickers were added and a piece of burlap string was wrapped around raffia and placed on the tag.

Another look.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Big Fish

Hello,

I have another layout to share with you today that was submitted at Colorful Creations for their Member Spotlight Challenge (GDTNOV13).  You can see the challenge here.

The sketch:

And my "Big Fish" layout:
Andrew was so proud of the trout he caught and was more than happy for me to take pics!  This was a super fun camping/fishing trip with my in-laws.  It certainly was never a dull moment!

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, Colorbok
Circle Punch
Ribbon
Stickers
Distressing
Darice Embossing Folder

Stickers were adhered onto each circle.  The page title sticker was matted several times.  The brown cardstock was embossed... and I enhanced the cracked paper by rubbing over it.

A fishing pole sticker was added to the right of the photo.
The brown cardstock was embossed using a different folder.

The arrow was traced from a template and the edges distressed.

A closer look.  Ribbon went through the center of the page... under the photos.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

And here's my layout:

Supplies used:
Paper: Colorbok, DCWV, K&Co.
Embroidery Flower Ribbon
Rick Rack
Flowers
Marker
Gems: Home Made

Love this cute embroidery ribbon!  The journaling block was added over matted rectangles.

More flowers were added to the right of the photo with home made gems in the centers.

A closer look.
