Thanksgiving Card

Hello,

I have a different kind of card to share using a different technique.  I'm not sure if I like it... but I gave it a whirl anyhow and this is what I came up with.

Here's my Thanksgiving card that was submitted at Soul Scrappers for their Black Magic Card Challenge (CC22).  You can see the challenge here.

I have never used the white ink pad that I've had forever!  I hurried up the drying process with my heat gun, then started coloring.  The sentiment was stamped with the white ink also and then embossed with clear embossing powder.

Thinking of You Fall Card

Hi there,

Here's a card that was submitted at Colorful Creations for their Creative Cards - Fall Colors Challenge (CCFALLCOLORS).  You can see the challenge here.

The challenge is to use FALL colors on your card.  Pretty simple, right?

It's a pretty versatile that could be used for any project that you choose to create.  What about a wedding or anniversary photo, a fun page with children, some special tourist place you may have visited or for a quiet, peaceful photo.

You can also create a layout (as I have done), a card, altered item or even a tag.

This glitter heart is so cute!  I simply added a bow from gold cording to add at the top of it.

The heart was printed onto cardstock, cut the heart shape, inked the edges and added a stamped flourish around the sides.  It was adhered with pop dots.

Each of the strips were embossed for some texture.

The chipboard bracket was inked and embossed.

So excited to find gems that matched the bracket!!

Fun Times!

Here's another layout that was submitted at Colorful Creations for their Member Spotlight Sketch Challenge (gdtaug).  You can see the challenge here.

Andrew and I having some fun for the camera.  Just as I was going to take the first photo... he turned his head... I thought it was a fun photo to add on my page anyhow.

I distressed the edges of the page title. 

Had some fun with the masking and misting, using metallic paints.  

The lines were created using a credit card.  I applied the paints over the stencils with my fingers.  Yup, it was messy... but fun! 

Rather than adding a group of flowers here... or random die cuts... I added this cute little stamp. 

A bracket was also stamped below the photo.

Happy Holidays Christmas Card

Hello,

This challenge forced me to get a jump start on my Christmas cards.  Really, for me, it's just way too soon to be thinking about Christmas!!  I'm still trying to enjoy what little we have of SUMMER!

This card was submitted at Sketches 4 All for their August Card Challenge.  You can see the challenge here.

All you have to do is create a Holiday card... whatever holiday you'd like.  There's lots of holidays to choose from.  I contemplated a July 4th card... but I made enough of them for awhile... then I thought about a Valentine's card... but I didn't "feel" like making one of those. 

So, here's my "Happy Holidays" Christmas card:

The satin ribbon was cut into a banner and three flowers with gems were added over it and two stick pins just above the flowers... on the right.

After stamping the sentiment, I used a red watercolor pencil to "fill in" the letters... which also helped them to stand out a bit more.

Three gems were added in the lower portion of my card.

Happy Birthday Card

I have another card to share that was submitted at Sketches 4 All for their Technique Tuesday Challenge (TECH-TUESDAY).  The "technique" was to use STITCHING on your project.

Using a sketch from Splitcoast Stampers (SC345), this is what I created:

The paper I did the stitching on was already embossed, so I got the brilliant idea to just stitch along these swirls.  So I got out the needle (I have a paper piercer, but chose a needle this time around) and started poking all the holes.  It wasn't long before I realized that I may have bit off more than I could chew!  This was going to be a lot of stitching!  I think it took me around an hour.  Once I got started, I couldn't just stop... all the holes were punched... so I had to continue on!  I sure won't be making any mass production of these cards!  On the flip side, I do love how it turned out though.

I embossed the lower portion of the card.  I stamped the sentiment on the embossed paper, which was double-sided, so I just flipped it over for the orange color... that matched with my other papers too.  Woo hoo!  I then cut out the circle and inked the edges.  A gem was added for the center of the flower.  Ribbon is across the bottom portion of my embroidered paper.

Happy Birthday Card

Hi there,

I have a card to share that was submitted at Sketches 4 All for Stacy H-W's February 25th Card Challenge (SHWCARD25).  The challenge was to make a card entirely white.

This is what I created using a sketch from Splitcoast Stampers (SC77).

I've only made a few white on white cards... and they are SO FUN!  I think this one is my favorite!

I used lots of layers and embossing.  A white ribbon is along the left.  Peeking out from behind the flower is a corner flourish and the sentiment was tucked under the flower a bit.

Merry Christmas Card

It looked just like Spring out this morning.  The sun was out, the snow was melting and it smelled nice and fresh outside.  But this evening it was a whole different story... it's snowing!

I have a card to share today that was submitted at Paper Secrets  for their Dec 15th Color Combo Challenge.  You can make an altered item, layout or card.  Below is the color palette to use.

I chose a sketch from Becky Fleck/Page Maps (Sept 2011).

The card looked way too plain and I knew I needed to do "something" more to it.

The bow was pretty.  So, I dug out my glitter paint and a paper towel, dipping it into the paint and dabbing it onto the whole card.  I used the Nestabilities die for the shape and the sentiment was stamped with red ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.

Merry Christmas Card

Hi there,

I have a Christmas card to share with you today.  I submitted it at Colorful Creations for the Jingle Bell Hop.  This was Brand's Blog Challenge.  Make a Christmas card using a themed stamp.

Here's what I created:

I started by covering a tag with felt and stamped this cute little snowman on it.  The edges of the tag were also inked and ribbon was stapled at the top.

Ribbon was looped along the edge under the snowman with a gem added where the ribbon overlapped.

Stickles were used to dot each "dot" on the patterned paper.  Yes, I dotted each one!

Pop dots were used under the sentiment and a dot of Stickles for the "i" in Christmas.

Raindrops Keep Falling

Hello there,

Well, I don't need to worry about my garden being too dry!

It's pouring out there!  And it's supposed to rain the rest of the week.  This should

help my garden grow.

It's one of those lazy days.... a good day to snuggle with a good book, take a nap or craft!

The latter sounds much better to me right now.

Anyhow, here's my card for today.

I used a border punch along the bottom edge of the card.

The flower stamps are SU.  They're so cute!  I curled up the edges of the

petals every so slightly to give some definition.

A Perfect Day To Play

Good morning!

The Happiest Place on Earth

Hi there!

One of the happiest places on earth is......... (drum roll)..........

MY CRAFT ROOM!

The place where I go to "escape" everything and be totally consumed and surrounded

by all my craft stuff.  I love it!

Well, it's wicked humid here and storms are coming our way.  

I've plucked all those pesky weeds out of my garden yesterday.  And I was so glad to see the fruits 

and veggies have finally popped out of the ground, so maybe they won't get "washed

away" from the heavy rains coming.  

That's exactly what happened last year.  

I was so happy to finally get my garden planted and the very next day 

the storm of all time hit our small town.... tornadoes, heavy rains, 

wild winds.  Totally freaky!  

About a week later I noticed huge spots in my

garden where NOTHING was growing!  The winds and rains obliterated

half my garden!  All my hard work.... gone.

So, today, I've decided it's way too hot to be outside (surprise, surprise), 

put my fan on HIGH and craft in my little, cozy craft room.

Community Service

Hi there!

Even though the day started off cool, it gradually became nice and sunny and I was lovin' it!!

And I was SO glad to be out and about enjoying this weather!

Today, the Boy Scouts provided some much needed community service to a local organization.  We stacked their wood for them and painted part of their building and all the trim around the windows.  What we thought would be a three hour job turned into a six hour job!  

But all was good..... they fed us hotdogs over the fire.... and their building looks SUPER!

Nestabilities Dies

Good morning!

We're having a rainy day today.

After looking at my wilting, droopy seedlings in the garden yesterday I was glad that the 

much needed rain perked them up!  Phew..... I thought they were goners!

My cards for today are the same layouts but with different sentiments.  It's so easy to 

make a pile of cards for all occasions when you really like the layout.

Our Family of Swallows

Hi there,

Thought I'd throw a curve ball out there and add a few different kinds of photos.

This is our family of swallows.  

They always let me get close enough to get a few pictures before they fly off.  They're so cute!  I think I need to add a few more bird houses around to get more families.

They swoop and dive getting all those bugs and flies.  Gotta love that!

And when the little babies are learning to fly it's really cute!

Isn't she/he pretty? 

Here's one of my flower beds, finished!

Beyond the flowers (upper right) is my herb garden.  There are a few herbs growing from last year.

I'm going to be adding quite a few more herbs this year.  Can't wait!

So yummy in foods.  And yes, I can tell the difference!  Fresh herbs are so tasty and flavorful!

To the left is my strawberry patch.  It looks kind of sparse right now, but there really are a lot of

plants in there that produce a great amount of strawberries.

In the fall I will replant all the "shoots" in the middle of the patch to fill it up again.  

And I may buy a few more plants to add to it too.

Gems, Purple satin ribbon, Sanding and Distressing,

Sentiment: Inkadinkadoo, Ink: A la mode Purple

I used my Big Shot to get the window in the center of the card.  I added pattern paper inside the card and stamped the sentiment within the window.  The flowers are hand cut from the pattern paper, folded, manipulated and inked along the edges with a gem added in the centers of each.

I used the paper piercer to trace a pattern the butterfly may have went (hee hee).

The bow is purple satin ribbon wrapped around two or three times then held together with a small piece of ribbon wrapped around the center and glued in place.
