Happy Birthday Card

Hello!

Today is finally a quiet day here, so I have time to relax and create.

Here's a card I made for Colorful Creations for their Creative Monthly Project - Make it Loud (CMPLOUD).  You can see the challenge here.

We're to be LOUD when creating our project and use BRIGHT colors... as well as mix them up.

Even though this card looks rather soft and feminine.... in real life, the papers are a bright lime green and purple!  Sorry I couldn't catch that in the photos.

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, Colorbok, White Cardstock
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder
Ribbon
Sentiment: Close to My Heart
Ink: Adirondack Purple Twilight
Flowers
Glitter Gems: Home Made
Sketch: Splitcoast Stampers (SC150)

Here's a closer look.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Card

Hi there!

Hope you're all having a fantastic Saturday!  I know I am!  Today is my scrapping day!  Woo hoo!
I'm also glad that we didn't get as much snow as they predicted... and even though everything had a layer of WHITE outside, it melted by noon time!  :)
All is good.

I have a care to share with you today.  It was submitted at Sketches 4 All for their Challenge 18 - Use Patterned Paper.
And since I love pp, I had to play along!  Using scraps from my stash, here's what I created:

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, White Cardstock
Martha Stewart Border Punch
Ribbon
Ink: A la mode Purple
Flowers: Cut from wide ribbon using Sizzlit flower die
Sentiment: Close to My Heart
Glitter Gems: Home Made
Sketch: Page Maps (June 2007)

I used the border punch on the striped paper.

Here's my sweet little flowers!  LOVE how they turned out!  And the glitter gems finish them off so nicely!

Thanks for taking a look at my Blog!

Community Service

Hi there!
Even though the day started off cool, it gradually became nice and sunny and I was lovin' it!!
And I was SO glad to be out and about enjoying this weather!

Today, the Boy Scouts provided some much needed community service to a local organization.  We stacked their wood for them and painted part of their building and all the trim around the windows.  What we thought would be a three hour job turned into a six hour job!
But all was good..... they fed us hotdogs over the fire.... and their building looks SUPER!

Here's my card for today.  Hope you like it.

The inspiration for this card came from:

Thought I'd dig out some stamps that have been lonely from lack of use.
I'm kinda liking this sentiment.

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, White cardstock
Cake stamp: Close to My Heart
Sentiment: Inkadinkadoo
Ink: Vivid! Teal
Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Sizzix

Have a wonderful day!

Have You Laughed Today?

Good Morning!

Just a random thought....
Do your animals make you laugh?  Doesn't it feel good to just  laugh out loud?
I love to laugh!  In fact, I can always find a chuckle in me even in the worst of times.
It's true, laughter is the best medicine.

Our animals are so funny.  Their mannerisms and their actions really make me laugh.
They have their own little personalities...... that were probably created around our own
actions.  Maybe that's why they make us laugh.  We're laughing at ourselves.....
wait..... no, I need to rethink that...... that's not what I meant.... I don't think....

Anyways, here's my card for today.
Thanks for checking out my Blog.
Hope you like the card.

Once the blocks were placed on the card, the other block holds the flower,
sentiment and ribbon over it.  Pattern paper from DCWV makes this card have a
happy feel to it.
The flower was made with the Sizzix Flowers #1 Die.
The center of the flower was sanded.

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, White cardstock, Sanding block,
Flowers: Sizzix Flowers #1 Die, Big Shot,
Sentiment: Close to My Heart, Ribbon, Ink: A la mode Red

Have a wonderful day!

Just One of Those Days.....

Hello,
Ever have "one of those days?"
What causes these days anyways?

Well, I'm having one today.  Not sure what brings on these feelings.  Maybe it's my body telling me to chill.  Or maybe it's something that just has to happen.... because.  Who knows.
I do know that it's rather annoying!

I think what bothers me the most about it is that I can't even explain it!
I guess I just need to be alone for awhile and hope it passes quickly.

Well, here's my card for today.
Along the same lines as the card I posted yesterday.
I really like using my Big Shot to create these "windows" in the card!
Hope you like it.

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, White cardstock, Silver ribbon,
Martha Stewart border punch, Nestabilities Scallop Oval,
Big Shot, Sentiment: Close to My Heart,
Ink: A la mode Green

Have a wonderful day (and I will try to also)!

I Think I'm Going to Get Something Done....

Good Morning!
I think I'm actually going to get something done.... in my house today.  Maybe.
Things have gotten a tad neglected from being outside the past few days.
Wonder what would happen if we had nice weather for, let's say, 10 days in a row?  Yikes!

I could spend time in my craft room in between house cleaning....
Now that's a novel idea!
Enjoy your day!

Here's my card for today.
Same layout as the card I previously posted, but with different colors.
Super easy and fun card to make.

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, White cardstock, Nestabilities Labels Die,
Bird Stamp: Inkadinkadoo, Sentiment: Close to My Heart "A Little Thanks"
Martha Stewart border punch, Ink: A la mode Red,
Cuttlebug embossing folder, Sizzix, Big Shot

Have a wonderful day!

Well..... It's Monday.... And I've Case'd These Cards

Hello!
There really isn't much to say about Monday.... other than I have to get through it to
get to more favorable days of the week!!

I have to let you know that the black flies are out!  Those little creatures can really pack a punch!  I'm talking about bug bites!  You know when they're at their best when someone is standing outside and there's a black cloud swarming over their head!  Yup, that's when we're in the thick of black flies!

Rather short post, because I'm off to weed my flower beds!

Here are a couple of Birthday cards recently made.
Love this card!  It was so fun to make!  I really love the cutout idea.
I case'd it from Bbpanoz's Gallery at Scrapbook.com.

Ever Have "One of Those Days?"

Hello!
The day is almost over and I decided to post a card.
That's how I roll!  :)

It's been "one of those days" in which everything is BLAH!  Didn't feel like doing anything...
exhausted and very tired.
How could I feel like this when it was such a beautiful day outside?

I had plans to be outside all day, working in my flower gardens and
strawberry patch, while it was nice out.

Instead, I stayed inside pretty much the whole day!  I did manage to get out of my own way enough to make a few cards.  I even surprised myself by doing that!

I usually get this way in the Spring.  And, I didn't even realize it until a friend recently stated, "It's that time of year when you feel like this... burned out.  You were like this around the same time last year too."  Then I put it all together and that's exactly what happens!  The only reason I can come up with is it's because I'm "coming down" from all the craziness of Holidays that are bunched together (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day and Easter)!
Whoa....... that's enough to tire anyone out!

Maybe it's something else.  Maybe I don't want to know.  Maybe it's just another
one of those "mysterious things" that I just need to deal with.

Whatever the reason, I am thankful that it doesn't last very long (although for me, it's way too long)
and it only happens once a year!
Strange, I know!  And I need to clarify that I'M not strange, it's the things happening to me that are!  :)

Anyone else ever feel like this?
Well, something to ponder on I guess.... or not!

Here's my card.  Enjoy!
Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, White cardstock, Cuttlebug embossing folder,
Cake stamp: Close to My Heart, watercolor pencils,
Sentiment: Stampin' Up! For A Friend, Ink: Adirondack Purple Twilight,
Martha Stewart border punch

This was a quick and easy card to put together.  I embossed white cardstock to place in the upper half of the card and used a border punch on the patterned paper and purple cardstock strip to place on top of that.  I used watercolor pencils to add some color to the cake, but I didn't color everything because that would have been "too much."  I layered cardstock and patterned paper to frame the cake.  Lastly, I stamped the sentiment using the For A Friend stamp set and colored the candle.

That's it.  Easy peasy!
A great way to mass produce cards.
Just use different colored cardstock, patterned paper, embossing folders,
stamps and sentiments.  This layout would also be great for a box of gift cards.

Hope you're having a wonderful start to the weekend!

Easter Cards

Hello!

I didn't get any Easter cards out this year!  What a bummer!!  I don't know what happened with the time.  All the holidays seem to be creeping up on me before I realize it!!   :(

On the plus side, it did get me motivated to make a few Easter cards, in hopes of getting them mailed out next year!
I wanted to do something different with the ribbon and came up with this.  It's probably been done before by someone else, but it's new to me and I kinda like it!

Supplies used:
Paper:  DCWV, White cardstock, White textured cardstock: ColorBok,
Mint green ribbon, Colored pencils, Hole punch,
Bunny stamp:  Westwater Enterprises, Sentiment (unknown),
Ink:  Adirondack Hazelnut

I've had these CTMH stamps for years and decided to dig them out and give them a try!  I don't know what I was waiting for...... because these are the cutest stamps!
Supplies used:
Paper:  DCWV, White cardstock,
Mint green ribbon, colored pencils, hole punch,
Ink:  Adirondack Hazelnut,
Bunny stamp:  CTMH "Sensational Season" and Sentiment:  Stampin' Up! "All Holidays"

Supplies used:
Paper:  DCWV, White cardstock, White textured cardstock: ColorBok,
Colored pencils, Pink ribbon,
Ink:  Color Box Raw Silk,
Stamps:  Sentiment: Hampton Art; Easter Eggs: CTMH

Here's my final card for today's post.  I was trying out the Martha Stewart circle cutter.  Once I figured out how to use it (HA HA!) I found it to be pretty neat!  Just don't move the base as you're turning it in a circle!
Supplies used:
Paper:  DCWV, White cardstock, White textured cardstock: ColorBok,
Stamp:  Bunny: Westwater Enterprises; Sentiment (unknown),
Colored pencils, sanding, Martha Stewart circle cutter, yellow seam binding,
Ink:  Adirondack Hazelnut; A la mode Green

Have a wonderful "Day Before Easter!"

Here Ya Go!

Hello!
These are my cards for today.
Have been on the road all day, so I'm a bit tired.

I did get to purchase a new corner rounder punch, which I've been looking for.  I have the orange and blue Fiskars one, but I didn't like the way it worked at all.  I'll be glad to toss that one aside and use my new one from EK Success!
Also found some great finds for $1, to add to my cards and layouts.  :)

Have a wonderful day!

Colorful Cards for Today

Good morning!
It's a beautiful day today.  Hoping more of the snow melts!
Gotta love relaxing days.  Maybe I'll even work on a few layouts or a card or two.  :)

I added Stickles glitter glue to the centers of the flowers to give this card a bit of dimension.

I don't usually make bright pink cards, but I do like the results.  How do you like it?

I decided to chalk the leaves to make them "pop" a little.  Like the card above, I added Stickles to the flowers.  Think I'm hooked on Stickles!  Such fun stuff to work with.
The only down side is waiting for it to dry!

The time change really got me this year!  I overslept!  Anyone else bothered by "springing ahead?"

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday Card

I hope you are having a great start to the weekend!
I created a few scrapbook layouts, which I will post within the next few days.

Today's post is a birthday card.
Embossing creates such a unique and special card!  I stamped the flowers onto patterned paper, cut them out, then twisted satin cording in a circle to create the centers of the flowers.

Have a wonderful day!

Random Cards

Hello there!
Here are a few of  the cards I have made over the past several months.  The Stampin' Up! catalogs are the inspirations for my cards.  I've been trying to come up with ways to use more of my paper stacks, mostly from DCWV.  I love their paper stacks!  Probably an odd way of doing things, but I usually start my process with matching various paper colors together, then I search for a pattern/design that I think would "match" my paper and go from there.  It's fun to search for just the right pattern.  And also a very good reason to search through my odds 'n ends stash and find unique things to add to my cards or layouts.  Thank you for looking!  Hope you enjoy!  :)

Have a wonderful day!
