Love

Hi there,

It's a dreary, rainy day today.  Ugh!  Everyone says we need the rain.... but I say we could've had a few more days of sun!!  :)

The layout for today was submitted at Colorful Creations for their May Sketch a Thon... for May 9th (ANNEMAY).  FUN sketch to work with!

Here's the sketch:

This is what I created:
Hubby and I in 2000.  Love this photo!

Supplies used:
Paper: Colorbok, DCWV
Lace
Ribbon
Sizzix Leaf Die
Vellum Leaves
Flowers
Glitter Gems: Home Made
Title Sticker: K&Co.
Corner Rounder

I added a couple of the vellum leaves under the flower and a glitter gem for the center.

To make sure I had a definite circle, I placed a circle onto my page and added the gems to the outside of the circle... otherwise, you wouldn't have been able to tell it was a circle... because of the crookedness!  :)

The biggest challenge was finding gems that were the same size.  I have a tendency to make them different sizes!

Here's the flower cluster to the right of the photo.  I used several different flowers and tucked the vellum leaves under them.

A closer look at the vellum leaves.

The title sticker was added just below the photo.

A better look at the flowers and gems.

Rather than add the lace and ribbon straight across the page, I broke it up a bit, tucking it under the photo mat.  Just for something different.  Love how it turned out!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. Beautiful page, Libby. I notice that you often use homemade gems on your pages. Can you explain how to make them?

    1. Sure! I make them using hot glue. For the glitter gems, as soon as I make the "glue dot" I sprinkle glitter on them, then let them harden. I also make a bunch of glue dots, let them harden and "paint" them using nail polish or metallic paints. I've also tried permanent markers on them... but use OLD markers... it ruins the tips!

I saw tutorials online. They're so fun to make! :)
