Pure, Simple & Wonderful

Good morning!

I've decided to scrap some of my old photos.  Yeah, I know.  It's really hard to scrap photos 

that are so old.  Anyone else have a problem with that?  Well, it isn't really a problem, it's just that I would rather scrap the "new" photos.

I guess I'll take the suggestions other scrappers and scrap back and forth, scrapping the

old and squeezing the new ones in between to scrap.  Maybe this way I won't get so discouraged

about getting the old photos onto layouts.

It's worth a shot, right?

The sketch I decided to use is from the Let's Scrap Sketch Gallery (7-14-10).  And here's

This layout caught my eye because of the simplicity of it.  It's a quick and simple layout, and

worked well with the photos I had.

This is my take on the sketch.  You'll notice that I used four photos instead of the three

that was allowed on the sketch, so the photos overlap a bit.  I blended that it a bit by

adding the flower with leaves.

The gifts are from Iraq when my hubby was deployed.  He says the genie's lamp is

just something cheap.  I say I love it........ and it doesn't matter the cost!  They are

proudly displayed throughout our living room.  

The hoodie was given to our son.  Hard to not notice where this is from as the 

letters are large enough!  Hee hee!

Now the ring...... well, that is something super special.  He got it for me for

our anniversary.  It's a gold band that has our names engraved along the outside with a 

heart in between our names.  This outer band circles around, with a small opening that

reveals our wedding date.  So totally cool!  I love it!

I knew I wanted to use a lot of gold on this layout to depict richness.

This rosette is made with ribbon, using a needle and thread to gather the ribbon

along one edge, pulled together and tied.  The button is also rich-looking with the

gold and pearl.  The leaves are from a flower bunch, which I tore apart to get at

the leaves.  :)

Hidden journaling.  Gotta love it!  This is where I describe the gifts and my

feelings.  Because it's hidden, I feel like I can truly say what I need to.

I used the Labels Die on paper that was folded in half.  I kept the die off one end, 

so the fold would remain.  A piece of cardstock was "wrapped" around the journaling block

and I finished it off with a knot in gold ribbon.

The  letters were created using my Cricut.  I'm also trying to "revive" my

Cricut, which I haven't used much lately.
