Her Smile

Hi there,

Am I the only one who has a day where "you wish you just would've stayed in bed?"
It all started last night for me.  I wanted to download a template that this particular site was encouraging everyone to use!  Sounded cool to me.
But first, I have a question.  WHY can't we download NORMALLY these days?  It's frustrating to try to download something BUT FIRST you have to download a program BEFORE you can download a template.  Really?  This is the stupidest thing I have ever encountered on the web!  Then you end up with all this "crap" on your computer that you will NEVER use again!
All I wanted to do was get that template!!!
Instead, that program added on my task bar.  It took me quite awhile, but I got it deleted.
There will be NO MORE downloading a program to download a template!!!
What ever happened to clicking on the download button and having it on your computer... just like that... BAM?

So this morning, I turn on my computer and it's a BLANK SCREEN!  You've got to be kidding me!  Everything was there last night!  I had to hand it over to my hubby before I had a major melt down (I already had a minor one)!
A full computer scan was done and then it froze up!  Oh no!
Hubby had the solution... thank goodness.  I think everything is ok now.  Phew!

I didn't realize just how lost I was without my laptop all day!  It's awful to be so attached to something.  But it gives me such joy.  And I'm not talking about laptop issues and viruses and what not (Yuck).... I'm talking about crafting sites!  I love blogging on my blog and checking out everyone's blogs and all the galleries and amazing talent out there.  And boy is there a lot of talented people!!

Which brings me to my simple layout for today which was submitted at Sketches With Color  for their Challenge #3 Sketch + Color + Anything goes.

This is the sketch:

And the color palette:

And this is what I came up with:
This is our niece during her high school graduation in 2007.  She has such a wonderful smile!
I love how the candle she was holding reflects on her gown and hair.

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, Colorbok
Paper Doilies
Embossing Folders: Darice & Cuttlebug
Font: Cricut Opposites Attract
Cricut
Big Shot
Sharpie Marker
Color Mists: Mr. Huey's
Perfect Pearls Mists
Snow-Globe Glitter Gems: Forever in Time
Ribbon
Various Flowers
Washi Tape: Hand Made
Stampin' Up! Stamps
Tissue Paper
Ink: Colorbok Blue Lagoon

The paper doilies were spritzed with a teal color mist and pearls mist.  A strip of ribbon and cardstock were used for the banners with two tiny flowers added on top of that.

My flower grouping.  The paper doily is tucked under a corner of the photo.  All the larger flowers were misted with pearls and random flowers were embossed.  Gems were added in the centers.
The tiny flowers already had the center gems.

Giving you a different angle on the flower grouping.

And this is my washi tape.  I watched a tutorial on line on how to make your own and I had to give it a try!
Sorry, cannot remember where I saw this.  But I'll try to explain it to you as best as I can.
I started off with 1-inch wide double stick tape that had a backing on one side.
I used white tissue paper, but you could use any color.  The tissue paper was pressed over the sticky part of the tape and smoothed down.  You can also leave it crinkled a bit for more dimension.
Next, I painted over the tissue paper.  You can use whatever paint colors you desire!  I used cream colored paint for this strip.  Let it dry.  Then dig out your ink and stamps and have fun!
I tried a few other paints and inks for a different effect.  Glitter paint was super cool on these too!  Storing them is so easy too!  And when you're ready to use it, just pull the backing off and add it to your card, layout or other project.

If you decide to give this a try, I would love to see what you created.  :)

Have a wonderful day!
Libby  :)
