Static!

Hi there,
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, full of fun and laughs.  And hope you took lots of photos too!  These photos are going to eventually make it into our scrapbooks, preserving memories forever!

Who went shopping the "Day After Christmas?"  The stores must have been crazy.  Someone is always exchanging an item they received.  Long lines... ugh!  I prefer to just keep it... no matter if I will never use it or if it wasn't something I really cared to receive.  It's the thought that counts.

The sketch for my layout is from Let's Capture These Sketches for their Sketch #163 Reveal.
Here's the sketch:

And now for my layout.  This is what I created:
Here's our son, having fun with "static" in his hair.  I laughed so hard watching him show off his hair standing right out straight!  Funny boy!

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, Colorbok
Distressing
Ink: A la mode Black (applied with paper towel)
Font: Cricut Opposites Attract
Cricut
Pop Dots
Folk Art Chunky Glitter Paint
Sharpie Marker
Stencil Lightning Bolt

Each "bolt" was traced and hand cut.  I pressed a piece of paper towel in the black ink and lightly rubbed it over each lightning bolt then dabbed another piece of paper towel in the glitter paint and added it to the bolts.  They were adhered with pop dots.

The background paper was created using a paper towel pressed into the ink and dabbed onto the cardstock lightly, so the "pattern" from the paper towel shows.  Pretty cool.  I was playing around, trying to see which technique worked best and this was it.  Try circles or lines... all creating a different background.

The title letters were distressed.

The cardstock was cut after journaling and the edges were inked.

Here are a few photos showing the details a little better for you.

Have a wonderful day!
Libby  :)

  1. Clever way of showing the bolts. Very creative embellishment. Nice layout and love those ideas of using paper towels. TFS.
