Hard Work

Hi,

Here's a layout that was submitted at ARTastic Challenge Blog for their July Inspiration Photo.  You can see the challenge here.

This is the inspiration photo:
And criteria:
Black and White with predominantly one other color.

Here's my layout titled "Hard Work."
This is our son and my father in law picking potatoes on his farm.  Each year we helped him with his business.  We didn't just pick, we racked, weighed and bagged too!

I used black and white and red as my predominant color.  Even my photo is black and white!  :)

Supplies used:
Paper: Colorbok
Glitter Gems: Home Made
Sticker Letters
Sharpie Marker
Stampin' Up! Border Punch
Flower
Sketch: Page Maps (Apr 2009)

I used a border punch along the top and square stickers for the title.

Journaling was added below the photo.  I also added ribbon and a single flower with a glitter gem.  I also added three glitter gems below the journaling block.

More glitter gems were added around the photo for added interest, since this layout is a bit plain... but I wanted the focus to be on the photo.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. I bet this was hard work Libby, I've picked strawberries and that nearly did my back in! Love your effective colour scheme - great page.

  4. Libby it certainly does look like hard work. Your use of colour and embellishment is restrained and adds a lot to the story that your layout focusses on. Thank you for joining in at ARTastic this month.

  5. Cripes. This does look like hard work (hard yakka we'd call that in Australia) I love how you used the diagonal stripe in behind that matches the rows of potatoes in the field. The red is like the ouch of all the back pain!

  6. What I love about scrapbooking is the way you can create wonderful memories for yourself and others about everyday life and the things that are important to you. Your journaling is great and such an integral part of your layout. Well done Libby. Thanks for joining us at ARTastic this month.
