Happy Fall Y'All Card

Hi there,

Here's a card that I created for the Monthly Challenge (octmetal) that I'm hosting at Sketches 4 All .  You can see my challenge here.

The challenge this month is to use METAL on your project.

This is my "Happy Fall Y'All" card:
There are lots of layers and stamped images... which made this card super fun to create!

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, White Cardstock
Mesh Ribbon
Metal Beads
Baker's Twine: American Crafts
Stamped Images: Stampin' Up! Happy Fall Y'All
Ink: A la mode Black
Corrugated Cardboard Fence
Sizzix Fence Die
Gold Color Mist
Distress Stain
Perfect Pearls Mist
Watercolor Pencils
Sketch: Splitcoast Stampers (SC120)

This is the right side of my card.  You can really see the mesh ribbon well in this photo.
Lots of stains and mists were used on the fence... as well as distressing it and peeling off some portions of the top layer.  Twine was knotted through holes in the sentiment and wrapped around one of the fence posts.

The left side of my card.  The leaves were stamped on pp and fussy cut.  To give the scarecrow a bit of color, I colored the leaves and patches with watercolor pencils.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Love is... YOU

Hi there,

Here's a layout that was submitted as the example at Colorful Creations for hosting my monthly Song Challenge (octsong13).  You can see the challenge here.

This month I have "crossed over" to the "Country" side and chose a song by Faith Hill titled, "It Will Be Me."

Here are the lyrics:

When you start falling
Who's gonna catch ya
I'm willing to bet ya
It will be me
Who's gonna love ya
Like there's no other
Search and discover
It will be me

When all the others
Have gone and hurt you
Who won't desert you
It will be me
Weighing the options
So much to think of
But when you think love
It will be me

You may not see it now
Love is strange that way
Someday somewhere baby somehow

When you've been broken
And dreams don't oblige ya
Who's that beside ya
Oh, it will be me

You may not see it now
Love is strange that way
Someday somewhere baby somehow

Who'll be your only
True romancer
You know the answer
It will be me

What will it take to
Bring you to your senses
And finally convince you
It will be me

The challenge is pretty simple.
Create a project (of your choosing) and you MUST use a word(s) from the lyrics provided.

Here's the layout I created titled, "Love is... YOU."
This photo was taken several years ago of hubby and I.

I used the words, "Love is" from the lyrics for part of my page title.

Supplies used:
Paper: Colorbok
Clear Letter Stickers
Heart Trim
Heart Clear Sticker
Sketch: 2 Broke Girls

I debated whether or not to add clear heart stickers between each letter... but then opted against it... because there was just too many hearts going on.

The hearts trim goes under the photo... onto a pp banner.

Using the pattern in the pp... I simply added the clear letter stickers.

One single clear sticker heart was placed in the upper right.

The corner of the pp covered the letters, so I ripped it, curled each end and tucked a heart in that space (cut from the trim).

Thanks so much for stopping by!

I hope you can join in on the fun!

Soul Scrappers Soul Quest Challenge

Hi there!

I'm hosting my very FIRST Soul Quest at Soul Scrappers (SSQ19).

I hope you will stop on my Soul Scrappers and check it out.

I will also provide "most of" the write up from the challenge... in hopes that it will entice you to sign up to play along!  It's a LOT of fun!

I've been participating in these Quests since I joined S.S. and it's so fun to receive goodies to create your masterpiece with.
I hope you will join in on the fun.  And... besides... who doesn't love FREE stuff, right?
This Quest is all about "Nature."
Here are a couple of definitions of "Nature" from the online Dictionary that I found:
** "Phenomena of the physical world including plants, animals, the landscape and other features and products of the earth."
** "Everything that was not made by man (stones, animals, plants, wine, rain, mountains, natural scenery)."
And my favorite: ** "The world of living things and the outdoors."
And here's a lovely quote that I have also chosen to inspire you:
"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings.  Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.  The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves."
-John Muir
Here's the fun part:
You will be sent a pack of embellies to use on your page.  Everyone receives the same items (color and size may vary).
The concept is to scrap a page using all or most of these items.  You can add anything you like, but you must use all or most of your FREE stuff.
Now for the important part:
By adding your name to the list, you agree to use all or most of the FREE goodies supplied.
You can make a card, layout, sewn item, altered item or mixed media item.
When you have finished your creation, upload it to the Gallery using the tag:SSQ19.
Signups will be in this thread and will run from October 1st until October 15th (two weeks) OR until we reach our quota of 15 participants.
What makes this Quest unique?
Until you open your envelope, you are really not going to know what is in it, and what you are expected to use.
Some of the embellies could be shop bought, painted items, stickers, stamped images, polymer clay items, metal items, hand pieced images, hand made flowers, sewn items, felt items, ribbons, etc... and the list goes on.
Important:
Once you sign up, PLEASE PM (private message) me your address... or you can also email me at pbllib@myfairpoint.net.
DO NOT post your address in this thread!!
Now for the benefits of the Quest (Yes... there are benefits)!
1.  You scrap items you may never have thought of scrapping before.
2.  You got to see how other individuals (who are participating) use their items and you will be amazed at all the creative ideas.  And from these ideas, it may cause a flow of new ideas for you to try.
3.  You use techniques and ideas on your future scrapbook pages.
4.  This challenge makes you think "outside the box" and you become more creative and arty!  How cool is that?
5.  Perfect for beginners because you will learn so much.  So, if this is your FIRST Quest, I encourage you to give it a try.

Ok, here's the rundown (A shorter version):
1.  Signups run from Oct 1st until Oct 15th (2 weeks).  Then goodies will be mailed out.
2.  Open to the FIRST 15 participants.
3.  Be sure to PM me your address.
4.  You will have until Nov 30th to add your entry in the Gallery using the tag:SSQ19.
5.  Remember, this Quest is all about "Nature."  However you want to interpret it for your project is up to you.
6.  You can make any project.
There will be PRIZES offered too!

So... are you ready for some fun?
Then please sign up!  :)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Max

Hi there,

I haven't scrapped a layout about Maxwell for awhile... and when I came across these photos... they were perfect for this sketch!

This layout was submitted at Scrap Much for their Sketch-y Friday Challenge.  You can see the challenge here.

This is the sketch:

My layout is aptly titled, "Max."
This is our daughter's dog, Max.  He's such a little character!  In the top photo he is holding on for dear life his chew bone and in the bottom photo he heard a "noise" and his full attention was in that direction.  So funny!

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV
Ribbon
Prima Flowers
Glitter Letters
Gems: Home Made

The title was added above the photos.  A single flower and home made gem was also placed here.

Here's my flower cluster.  Ribbon goes diagonally through the page.  More home made gems.

And here's a closer look.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Good Times

Hello,

Here's a layout that was submitted at My Scraps and More Sketches for their Sketch #48.  You can see the challenge here.

This is the sketch:

And here's my layout titled, "Good Times."
This is Andrew and I at Chimney Pond at Baxter State Park in 2009.

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV
Prima Flowers
Beads
Bling
Walnut Ink Mist
Stampin' Up! Border Punch
Marker
Folder Tab

A punched border was added along the top of my page.  The flower center is a metal bead.

I misted along the bottom portion and under the banner on the left.
The words were already on the pp... so cool!  To highlight the page title a bit more... I added a cluster of bling and a flower.

The folder tab was hand cut and another flower added just below it.

Here's a closer look at the bling!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Winter

Hello,

Here's a layout that was submitted at Colorful Creations for their Sketchy Tuesday Challenge (STSeptember).  You can see the challenge here.

This is the sketch:

And here's my layout titled, "Winter."
These were the fun times... dog sledding with my father in law.  We would be gone for the good part of the day... just going along the trails.. enjoying the quiet and beautiful scenery.  It was a LOT of work to prepare to go... and when we returned... but it was also so much fun.

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV
Sheer Ribbon
Silver Color Mist
Snowflakes
Fabric Tag
Staple
Silver Ribbon
Darice Embossing Folder

Silver ribbon was stapled at the top of the fabric tag.

Silver snowflakes were added randomly on my page.

The long cardstock strip was embossed.  Sheer ribbon and silver ribbon is along the left side.

Here's a closer look at the tag.

Remember

Hi there,

Another beautiful day today!  Got out in my garden and cleaned out a few more veggies from it and did a little weeding.  Can't believe how hot it was.... LOVE it!!

Here's a layout that was submitted at Turtle Soup for their September Mini Crop - Grandparent Challenge.

My layout is titled, "Remember."
This is our grandson... giving the "Cardboard Grampie" a hug.  While hubby was deployed, this cardboard photo of him went everywhere with me.

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV
Ticket
Die Cuts
Ribbon
Marker
Epoxy Stickers
Rick Rack
Darice Embossing Folder
Sketch: Page Maps

The sticker was matted several times so it would stand out more.  Not sure if it really worked... but it just looked better matted to me.

I decided to scrunch two strips of ribbon along the left of the photo.  An epoxy sticker was added near the bottom.  Rick rack is along the left edge of pp.

A few journaling words were added just below the photo.

A small cluster of embellies is to the right of the photo... and a small strip of rick rack in the upper corner.  The photo matting was embossed.

A closer look.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

School Days

Hi there,

Here's a layout that was submitted at Soul Scrappers for their Around the World - Argentina Challenge (ATW10).  You can see the challenge here.

Simply create your page using inspiration from the following photos:

This is the page I created which is titled, "School Days."
The inspiration for my page was from the 4th photo shown above... the brightly colored yellow house.

The arrows point to where our grandson is in the photos.  The Annual Gym Show event was held every year for the grade school kiddos.  Different events are held for each grade level and they get to play games and show the variety of skills they learned for each event.

This particular year was Parachute fun!  The kids would all hold the parachute and fling it in the air and when it was up... they would take turns running underneath it to switch sides with another child.  Then they would put quickly wrap it around them so we only saw their legs... and another time only their heads were showing.  It was so cute to watch!
The favorite was when the gym teacher pulled out the box of ping pong balls and threw them in the center of the parachute and they would fling them up in the air... and ping pong balls were everywhere!  They would keep doing this until all the ping pong balls were out of the parachute.

When the games were completed... they would all gather towards the center, making the parachute flat.

Supplies used:
Paper: My Mind's Eye
Stampin' Up! Border Punch
EK Success Border Punch
Rick Rack
Foam Hands & Star
Ribbon
Pop Dots
Stickers
Darice Embossing Folder
Marker
Washi Tape
Sketch: Page Maps

The arrow was adhered with pop dots.  The page title in the lower left was added onto an embossed circle with various stickers and foam hands around it.

A border punch was used on the left of the journaling block and rick rack added.  A small piece of yellow washi tape was added in the upper corner.

More rick rack and a foam star.  The center rick rack was added onto blue ribbon.

I used another arrow to show where his legs were sticking out.

A closer look at the arrow.

Here's a closer look at the page title cluster.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
