Hiking

Hi there,

Since there really isn't much going on, I have no stories to tell, so I'll get right to it.

Here's my layout which was submitted at Sketches With Color http://sketchwithcolor.blogspot.com/
for their SWC Challenge #2.

Here's the sketch:

And the Color Palette:

This is what I created:
Rather than use three photos I chose to use only one and "fill in" the other blocks with
other fall themed things.  The challenge was to use either a Halloween theme or a Fall theme.
I chose to do the Fall theme.

This photo was taken using the timer on my camera.  We took the Cub Scouts on a
hike up a mountain close to where we live.  It was such a beautiful fall day.  Since it was
hunting season, we all had to wear blazing bright orange!  Our son and grandson went, so
it was even more fun!!  :)

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, Colorbok
Distressing w/Scissors
EK Success Border Punch
"Out in the Wild" Sticker: Me & My Big Ideas
"Crisp Autumn Air" Sticker: Creative Imaginations
"Hiking" Sticker: Paper House
Ribbons
Sizzix Leaf Die
Recycled Clear Plastic
Big Shot
Folk Art Paints
Pop Dots
Fall Leaves Stickers: Stickabilities

I didn't like the looks of a strip of paper or a single strip of ribbon, so I rounded the
ribbon and used it to house my title and leaves hanging down from the title sign.

There are a few photos of these two blocks, as I was trying to get that one great shot.

When you purchase a scrapbook album, most times, it's covered in clear plastic, right?
Well, I've been saving these plastic sheets for quite awhile and finally dug it out and put it to use.
Using my Big Shot, I cut a "pile" of these leaves (no pun intended).  Hee hee

Still not quite sure what I was going to do with these plastic leaves, I started by dipping
a piece of scrunched up paper towel into paint and dabbing it onto the back side of the
leaves.  When that dried, I simply flipped it over and adhered it to the page.  The purpose was
to still see the shiny plastic.  I liked how they turned out.  There are all sorts of
possibilities to create cool leaves!  A thicker layer of paint could be used or maybe just
misting them.  They could also be outlined with a gold leafing pen (Hmmmm, I have to try this).

The sticker was adhered to cardstock, trimmed and distressed using scissors.  I still can't
believe I haven't used scissors before this!  It's way ahead of using a sanding block!
And I've never used one of those little distressing tools.

Here's a better look at the distressed papers, ribbon and border punch.

Thanks for taking a look at my Blog and hope you'll stop in again!
