Our Daughter

Hi there,
Nothing traumatic happening today... so that's good!  It was a quiet day... another cold one out there.
I had time to complete a few layouts, which I'm super happy about.

This layout was submitted at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration for their Case File #57.  The deadline for entries is February 10th.
Here's the "case" info:

And the color palette:

Other requirements:
EVIDENCE (CHOOSE AT LEAST 2 ELEMENTS)
  • hearts
  • flowers
  • leaves/vines
  • birds
  • solid background
  • 10 layers (inspired by the heart)
  • die cuts
  • punches
  • feathers
  • fabric brads
  • stars/starbursts
  • a large heart as a major design element
  • weave or intertwine something (inspired by the vines)
TESTIMONY (CHOOSE AT LEAST 1 ELEMENT)
  • Document a love story (interpret as you wish).
  • Write a top 10 (or other 10) list
  • Journal from two different perspectives (he said/she said; the past you/the present you; the present you/the future you, etc.)
  • Record a conversation or journal as dialogue
  • Use a heart-shaped journaling spot
  • Add hearts to your journaling spot
  • Inspiration Words: -- soar, love, reflect use these as inspiration for your journaling, not just as a title.

This is what I created:
This is our dear daughter when she was in the 10th grade.

I used the Color Scheme.
The evidence included:  Hearts, Flowers, Stars and large heart as major design element.
The testimony: Heart shaped journaling spot and hearts added to the journaling spot.

Supplies used:
Paper:  DCWV, Colorbok
Lace Fabric
Large Background Heart: Hand Made
Glitter Chipboard Heart & Stars
Seam Binding Rosettes: Hand Made
Pink Flowers: Forever in Time
Other Flowers
Paper Heart Doily
Distressing
EK Success Border Punch
Sharpie Marker
Gems: Forever in Time & Glitterazzi
Show Globe Glitter Gems: Forever in Time
Perfect Pearls Mist: Perfect Pearl
Mister Huey's Color Mists: Shine
Vellum Dragonfly

I added a heart to the center of the paper doily, distressed the edges and added two hearts and a flower.

Lace fabric was used to cover the pink heart that I hand made.  To add a bit more to the plain pink strip, I added a punched border.

The stars are chipboard.  Flowers were added in between the two stars with gems added for their centers.  The flowers were misted.

I found a book of printed vellum sheets with a variety of designs and this dragonfly really caught my eye because it's TEAL!  I just had to add it to my page, cutting it from the page, adhering it only in the center to leave the wings free-flowing.

Here's a closer look at the chipboard heart and flowers.

Here's a better look at the cutest dragonfly!  :)

Thanks for taking a look at my blog and hope you'll visit again!
