Yum

Hi there,

Here's a layout that was submitted at Sketches With Color for their April 1st Sketch and Color Palette Challenge.

Here's the sketch:

And here's the color palette.  I loved these colors and had to play along!

Here's what I created:
This is our daughter and a portion of our son several years ago... having a piece of yummy cake!

The background paper looks blue.... but it's really TEAL.  Sorry about that... not sure what happened.

Supplies used:
Paper: Colorbok, DCWV, Other
Texture Paste: Home Made
Stones Stencil
Distressing
Ink: Blue
Sharpie marker
Stitches Template
Mister Huey's Mist
Wilton Color Mist
Sanding
Clear Stickers Title
Gems: Home Made
Rosettes: Home Made
Flowers
Swirls Stamps

The paper edges were distressed and I added a flower/gem on top of that.  A swirl stamp was added in the upper corner.  This photo give you a better look at the misting too.

Here's my flower grouping.  The rosettes are what I made and the gems are my newest creations... so fun to make!  I added a few gems around the flowers too.

I used a stitches template to create the border on the background page.  There are lots of layers and distressing.

I added teal colored clear stickers as my title.

A couple swirls were stamped just under the flowers.  The center strip of cardstock was already embossed and I gently brushed it with a sanding block so they would stand out a bit more.

Another swirl stamp was added in the lower right of the photo.

Here's a closer look at the rosette and heme made gems.

I decided to play around with my own texture paste again and used my stones stencil.  I misted the paste with teal mist, mixed it up and made the stones.  Once it dried I misted it.  Love how it turned out.

A closer look at the texture "stones."

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Have a wonderful day!

Adventure

Hello everyone!

Hope you're having a wonderful Saturday.

I have a layout to share that was submitted at Colorful Creations for their So You Think You Can Scrap - Week 14 Challenge.
Yes!  I made it to Week 14!  Woo hoo!  So totally excited!

So... here's the challenge:
No sketch this week... but you have to create a layout using the following, which MUST be included on your page.
1.  Make your own patterned paper (NO pre-printed papers allowed).
2.  Make your own washi tape.
3.  Make your own (texture) paste.
4. Make your own pinwheel.

These requirements are from previous weeks challenges using these techniques and now we're putting them all together on one page!

This is what I created using a sketch from Page Maps (Nov 2008):
This is our son sitting on the dinosaurs at Santa's Village in New Hampshire.  It's a fun place for kids with all sorts of great things to see and do!

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, Colorbok
Washi Tape: Home Made
Texture Paste: Home Made
Pinwheel: Home Made
Brad
Dinosaur Die Cuts
Wilton Color Mist
Perfect Pearls Mist
Stamps: Stampin' Up! Itty Bitties
Ink: Color Box Blue Lagoon & A la mode Green
Paper Tearing & Distressing
Metallic Rub ons
Stones Stencil
Pop Dots

After putting the pinwheel together, a brad was added in the center and then it was misted.

I distressed the edges of the cardstock dinosaur and adhered him to my page with pop dots.

A closer look at my textured stones!  Love how they turned out!  It's so cool to have all the dimension too!  I misted the whole strip with Pearl color mist and then using my finger rubbed metallic rub ons onto the tops of each stone.
I also added a bit of journaling under this.

Here's my cute little dinosaur... found in my stash!  I distressed the edges a bit and adhered the bottom of him directly to the page and used a pop dot under his head for more dimension.

I created the background using a masking technique, using blue and green inks with a paper towel.

I made the washi tape using regular tape and an old magazine.  Easy peasy!

Another strip of washi tape was adhered just below the photos.  You can also see the stamped images on each piece of cardstock.

I was trying to get a photo of the dimension.  I had to use a double row of pop "tape" so the photos were lifted off the stones.  Still love how it turned out!

Hope you enjoyed visiting my Blog!

Sweet

Well, hello again!

I made it to Week 12 at Colorful Creations for their So You Think You Can Scrap Challenge (SYTYCS012)!  So totally stoked!!

Here's all the info about this week's challenge:

The challenge:

1.  Masking
2.  Texture Paste
3.  Some sort of inking
4.  Use the sketch above
5.  Stay true to the sketch

Here's what I've been working on a good part of today.  I got down and messy... and still have a "green thumb" from all the misting!  I'm just so excited that something came to me so quickly!  I usually have to think about it for a day at least.

This is our daughter when she was 5 years old.  She was so excited to show off her new haircut.  Her hair was halfway down her back and she wanted it cut for her Kindergarten Graduation.

Here's what I used:
1.  Masking: The bricks.
2.  Texture Paste: I made some and used it on each heart.
3.  Inking: I used a light ink for the edges of the paper strips and a darker ink to stamp the images on these paper strips.
4.  I used the sketch.
5.  I stayed true to the sketch.

Supplies used:
Paper: DCWV, Colorbok
Bricks Masking
Color Mist: Home Made
Texture Paste: Home Made
Swirls & Flowers Stamp: Cloud 9
Ink: A la mode Pink, Vivid! Raspberry
Hearts with texture paste
Clear Stickers Title

Here's the upper right of my page.  I misted the brick background from a mask that I made.  I added a thin strip of paper which was lightly inked along the edges then stamped with a darker ink using a border stamp.  The clear stickers were added as the title.  This is one of many texture paste hearts.

A closer look at the textured hearts.  I had so much fun making this paste!  It's so weird that I actually had a "recipe" on my wall as something to do someday!  Then this challenge came along and I got all excited to actually try it out.  I ended up using another recipe and not the one that was on my wall.

Here's the recipe... in case you'd like to make your own texture paste (not my own recipe).  Here's the link to the person who created this paste:

1 Cup of Baking Soda
2 Tablespoons of White Paint
1-2 Tablespoons of Elmer's Glue

Mix it together and store in an airtight container.  You may have to use a bit of water to get the consistency you want.

This is the upper left of my page.  I added another inked strip across the bottom of my photo with the ends overlapping the heart.
I used various hearts from my stash, traced them onto cardstock, cut each one out and used them as a mask for the textured hearts.

The masking background is my own creation.  I cut out each "brick" with a crafter's knife.  Yes, this took awhile to accomplish, but I was determined.
I then sprayed a repositionable tacky spray on the back of it so it would adhere to the page for easier misting.  I dried the misting and mask with my heat gun, because the masking paper was thin and I didn't want it to rip... because I had to use it a couple more times!
The mist I used is something I created.  I was excited to purchase some misting bottles that actually misted instead of gobbed onto my page!  And, as a result of the great misting and having to hold my page so that I could mist, I have a green thumb!  Oh well!

This is the lower right of my page.  A closer look at the misting and another heart.

All the hearts were different sizes.  Good thing I have a LOT of different sizes of hearts!  Hee hee!

I played around with the thickness of each one.  The larger heart is a thicker one and the smaller heart I thinned out a bit.  Oh ya, I added it over the masking with my finger.  That's what worked best for me.

Have a wonderful day!
